Les monedes de Malta
A partir del 1 de gener de 2008, l'euro tindrà curs legal a Malta, substituint a la lira maltesa (MTL) al tipus de canvi irrevocable de 1 = 0,429300 MTL.
Maltese euro coins feature three separate designs for the three series of coins. Malta has been a member of the European Union since 1 May 2004, and is a member of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union. Malta adopted the euro as its official currency on 1 January 2008, replacing the Maltese lira at the irrevocably fixed exchange rate of 1 = MTL 0.429300.

Motiu 1, 2 & 5 ct.: Temple de Mnajdra
El motiu de les monedes de 1, 2 i 5 cèntims representa una planta del temple en el sud del país, que pertany a l'herència de la cultura del món de la UNESCO. Aquests plantes de temples prehistòrics estan singulars a Europa i en part s'haguessin construït ja 3600 a. de C.
The motive of the 1, 2 and 5 ct. coins shows a temple plant in the south of the country, which belongs to the UNESCO world culture heritage. These pre-historic temple plants are singular in Europe and some of them were already built 3600 b.C.
Il-muniti ta' 1 ċenteżmu, 2 ċenteżmi u 5 ċenteżmi juru l-altar li jinsab fit-tempji preistoriċi tal-Imnajdra, mibnijin għall-ħabta tas-sena 3600 qabel Kristu fuq għolja żgħira li tagħti fuq il-baħar.

Motiu 10, 20 & 50 ct.: Escut d´armes de Malta
Les monedes al 10, 20 i 50 ct. demostren la capa de braços nova de Malta. En 1988 va substituir la capa de braços molt moderna »vaixell Maltès sota sol mediterrani«, que solament 1975 van importar.
The coins of 10, 20 and 50 ct. show the new coat of arms of Malta. In 1988 it replaced the just in 1975 imported, very modern coats of arms of the country "Maltese boat under the Mediterranean sun".
Il-muniti tal-10 ċenteżmi, 20 ċenteżmu u 50 ċenteżmu juru l-Arma ta' Malta, tarka b'rappreżentazzjoni araldika tal-bandiera nazzjonali ta' Malta. Fuq it-tarka hemm kuruna tal-ġebel li tirrappreżenta l-fortifikazzjonijiet ta' Malta u tfisser li Malta għandha l-istatus ta' belt stat. It-tarka hija mdawra bgirlanda magħmula minn żewġ friegħi, waħda taż-żebbuġ fuq ix-xellug u l-oħra tal-palm fuq il-lemin, it-tnejn simboli tal-paċi li tradizzjonalment għandhom xjaqsmu ma Malta.

Motiu 1 & 2 &euro: Creu de Malta
Les monedes d'1 i 2 euros decoren la Creu Maltesa de vuit puntes.
Aquests consells simbolitzen la interpretació actual de les vuit benediccions del Sermó sobre la muntanya en el Nou Testament. Els quatre consells que apunten cap a endavant, per contra, sostenen la saviesa - la justícia - el valor - la moderació.
The 1 and 2 Euro coins show the Maltese Cross. The cross symbol is associated with the Order of St. John since 1567, with the traditional Knights Hospitaller and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and by extension with the island of Malta.
The eight points symbolize, according to today's interpretation, the eight Beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount in the New Testament. The four inward - pointing tips, on the other hand, stand for wisdom - justice - valor - moderation.
Fuq il-muniti tal-1 u 2 hemm l-emblema li tintuża mill-Ordni Sovran ta' Malta. Matul il-ħakma tal-Ordni f'Malta bejn l-1530 u l-1798, is-salib tat-tmien ponot intrabat mal-gżira u llum huwa magħruf bħala s-Salib ta Malta.
Dawn il-pariri jissimbolizzaw l-interpretazzjoni tal-lum tat-Tmien Beatitudes tas-Sermon fuq il-Muntanja fit-Testment il-Ġdid. L-erba 'ponot li jindikaw il-ġewwa, min-naħa l-oħra, joqgħodu għall-għerf - ġustizzja - valur - moderazzjoni.
